It was a beautiful day in August. A day when two people who are so good for each other finally say “I Do”.
Nicky is the daughter of my cousin Lori and her husband Dale. I have watched her grow up from a rambunctious toddler to a beautiful young woman. She is a wonderful mother and no doubt with be an amazing wife.
Brett is her love and her soul mate. Anyone who sees them together can see that. He has quirks that match hers and fit perfectly.
It is obvious that they are meant to be together.
The weather was perfect. An outdoor wedding in the garden. The garden belongs to the Lounsbury Funeral Home. Rather an interesting setting but beautiful just the same. Lori had been working on the gardens for some time. The pond also added another dimension to an amazing setting.
Nicky looked absolutely beautiful in her tradition gown of white.
Her flowers were Red Roses and Red Callas. Everything was just perfect for her fairy tale wedding.
She had worked so hard on this and it came together. If there were any glitches they certainly weren’t seen.
Nicky was escorted through the gardens and down beside the pond by her dad Dale. After all the jokes and laughter through her life, you could still see the love on their faces.
Brett escorted his mom to her seat and you could see the love that passed between them. No words need to be spoken. The look of a mother’s love for her son.
Lori got the joy and privilege of being escorted to her seat by Brett but also was joined by Ms. Emily. Emily is the daughter of Nicky and Brett. That little girl has so much love around her she will be able to accomplish anything and everything she wishes in life..
The service was full of wonderful sentiments and things that spoke of Brett and Nicky’s love for each other. Finally came the part they had both been waiting for. You are now man and wife. You may kiss the bride. The smiles on their faces tell the story. They have started a journey that will take them on a roller coaster ride of ups and downs and everything in between.
Moms and daughters usually have special bond. Lori and Nicky seem to have an extra special bond. They just seem to be more like sisters than mother and daughter. This is one of my favourite pictures as this is usually how you see them. Side by side. Smiles on their faces. What a lucky girl you are Nicky to be so close to your mom. It certainly shows.
Now that the wedding was over and the wedding party was off to get pictures taken. We headed over to the hall. It was amazing. Nicky had done an absolutely amazing job. She had put it all together and knew what she wanted and went for it. It was a stunning mix of Classy with a little bit of whimsy. Great Job Nicky.
There was a very classy table set up outside the hall which included a very beautiful long stemmed red rose in a very tall slim vase.
Also on the table was the guest book.
Sitting prominently on the table were also Nicky and Brett’s top hats. Yes that is the whimsy I was talking of.
Beside the table was a mirror which had playing cards attached. Around each playing card was the seating arrangement for that table. In the hall the same playing card was on the table you were to be seated at. A very novel idea. Brilliant and Beautiful!!
The hall was decorated in Black, White and Red.
Crystals were also very prominent in the decorations.
The tables were set with black tableclothes, red napkins and black on white over clothes. Each table had a long stemmed red rose in a very tall slender vase. The table also had a playing card prominent in the centre to correspond to the card on the mirror in the hallway. It was an absolutely stunning setup. Congratulations to go Nicky for this. She made it happen.
The cake was another beautiful creation of classy with a little bit of sentimental. It was wonderfully done with decorations of crystals and roses.
After a scrumptious buffet meal there were the speeches. All went off without a hitch. This is certainly surprising. Seems that Nicky’s dad was warned not to tell any stories for fear of retribution. Hmmm. That has never stopped him before. Wonder what they have on him. Nicky’s friends who MC’d were amazing. They were so full of energy and enthusiasm. They knew Nicky well and were enjoying getting to know Brett.
Then the party began. The DJ started up the music and the Bride and Groom danced their first dance as husband and wife. Then the parents of the bride danced together. Hmm.. There ended up being three during that dance.
Ms. Emily was dancing with Grandma Lori and Grandpa Dale.
Then Brett’s mom and dad took their turn on the dance floor.
Then the floor was open and the music started pumping. The party started in earnest.
To Nicky and Brett. May you love each other more every day. Through the ups and downs, the good and the bad. You will always be able to count on each other. Love you both
